I create music and sound, sometimes for peculiar, curious or unusual short films, othertimes just for it’s own sake.
I also like to invent sound and film installations for art galleries, hotel foyers or other public spaces (even public toilets!)
The third area I like to focus on is creating very short sound design pieces for audio company branding or marketing indent purposes.
I always try to avoid using standard library sounds, and instead have a more organic and original approach, building up aural structures consisting of found and recorded bits of sound, acoustic guitar, and my own strange collection of bits of instruments and percussion.
I have a number of skills and characteristics which I’ve found invaluable when working with artists and filmmakers:
- I belong to the Maze group of artists in Brighton and have worked with a number of artists, and am skilled at turning an artistic conceptual brief into a complementary piece of music and sound design.
- I create films as well as work on them, most of my friends are filmmakers, and I’m a great fan of film, so have an understanding and feel for the medium, as others have mentioned on the Testimonial page.
- I really enjoy the opportunity to collaborate.
- I have a in-depth understanding of business practises which helps me deliver professional results to a deadline. I’m also involved in a number of current businesses.
- I was a record shop manager for 13 years - music has been central to my life since I was about 14!
