Part of the Musical Poems series. A cinematic drive through the countryside with the forerunner of the beat poets, William Carlos Williams, at your side. I played acoustic guitar against his voice, and used it to illustrate and punctuate his words. Also it’s been part of a sound installation in an art gallery’s toilets.
Features Allen Ginsberg being disturbed by the world. I know how he feels - that’s why I live on a boat. Another Musical Poem. Mixed by Tony Platt and Haydn of The Factory. I like the way they spent time creating a rhythm track from the typewriter sound.
An early experiment in lo-fi sound design and spoken word (a William Burroughs cut-up text taken from one of his Tangiers sound experiments). I also used sound from one of my mum’s old musicals, and the synth was my old Nord Lead, which like everything else I’ve ever sold, I now regret selling. I’d like it back now please.
An aural environment designed to enhance a virtual island within Second Life. I like creating music and sound for virtual worlds - it’s like a blank canvas where you have to dream up complementary sound environments. This one is for a strange empty house I had once by the sea. Comprises sound design and effects all held together by a musical backbone.
